Fun Facts

A fun fact about me is that I have a deep passion for travel. As someone who loves research, I truly enjoy diving into the history, culture, and unique aspects of each country before I visit—then experiencing it all firsthand. I’ve set a personal goal to travel to at least one new country every year. So far, London and Jamaica are the two places where I've spent the most time.

About Me

At my core, I’m someone who believes in second chances, lifelong learning, and the power of showing up—for others, for community, and for yourself. I have a deep passion for reading, exploring new ideas, and creating spaces that bring people together in meaningful ways. For me, connection isn’t just about forming relationships—it’s about putting in the effort to nurture and sustain them, whether with students, families, colleagues, or neighbors.
Before I became a teacher, I spent five years working in federal accounting and auditing—a world built on structure, precision, and predictability. But over time, I realized something important was missing: purpose. I wanted my work to make a direct, lasting impact on people’s lives—especially young people who just needed someone to believe in them and meet them where they are. Beyond education, I have a creative side that fuels my passion for video editing and independent journalism. I’m also deeply interested in entrepreneurism and enjoy teaching these skills to others, empowering them to tell their own stories and build their own ventures. Outside of work, I find peace and inspiration in nature—especially near water—and cherish quality time with family and friends. Community service is a key part of my life, as I believe giving back is essential to building stronger, more compassionate communities.

Experience

Before beginning my career in education, I worked as an accountant and auditor for the federal government for five years. I later transitioned into education by serving as a substitute teacher for District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), which eventually led to a full-time role as a middle school mathematics teacher. Over the next eight years, I taught primarily in charter schools across Southeast Washington, D.C., including KIPP DC and other schools throughout the city. I was also a founding

Approach

My approach to individualized education is rooted in the belief that every child learns differently and deserves instruction tailored to their unique strengths, needs, and learning style. I take the time to understand each student's academic background, interests, and challenges to create a personalized learning experience that builds confidence and fosters growth. Whether it's breaking down complex math concepts or developing foundational literacy skills, I meet students where they are and guid
