Fun Facts
I have been in education for over 40 years. I am trilingual; I speak English, Haitian Creole, and French. I am Caucasian and American, but many people believe I am Haitian because I speak Creole so well, since I lived in Haiti for 20 years. I used to jokingly say I was Haitian, but my skin was inside out!
About Me
I am originally from Pennsylvania, but I lived in Haiti for 20 years. Now I reside in Florida since I retired. I was the Director of Adult Education at Miami Dade College for 16 years, where I oversaw a program that served over 10,000 students on 7 campuses annually.
Experience
I have taught ESL for 40 years. Additionally, I have taught all 5 subjects of the GED for 16 years. Teaching has always been my passion.
Approach
During my undergrad studies, I was introduced to the philosophy of Dr. Marc Gold. He has a program entitled "Try Another Way." This program was extremely useful as it advocated alternative methods be used when what was thought to be the "normal" or "traditional' method of instruction was not successful. I have adhered to this approach ever since then.
