Fun Facts

I discovered my passion for teaching over 30 years ago during a long-term substitute assignment in Phoenix, AZ. After just one day in the classroom, I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I often tell new teachers, "I’ve never woken up in the morning and thought, ‘I can’t do this today.’" Teaching is my passion, and I hope to continue both teaching and tutoring for many years to come.

About Me

I am a science teacher in a border town in Texas. I have 30 years of teaching experience. I am a lifelong learner and an avid reader. In the summer, I read 2-3 books a week. Thank goodness for e-books and a library card.

Experience

I have 25 years of experience teaching secondary science. I have taught both middle school and high school science. Specifically, I have taught the entire middle school science curriculum, as well as high school courses in physics, earth and space science, biology, chemistry, environmental systems, and integrated physics and chemistry.

Approach

I feel that a growth mindset can be a powerful tool in helping students learn and grow. I try to empower students with a positive attitude and a respect for the individual. Every student is unique, and every student can learn and grow.
