About Me

I am an OSP Designer working for an engineering firm. I work primarily in Civil 3D and ArcGIS to design fibre optic networks and create construction and permit drawings for our clients.

Experience

I have extensive professional experience as a CAD Drafter using SketchUp, AutoCAD & Civil 3D. Highly proficient at 3D modelling. I also have 15 years of experience as a carpenter and have an excellent fundamental understanding of practical design and how it relates to creating construction drawings.

Approach

I am a firm believer in learning by doing, not watching. True absorption of a subject comes from actively engaging in it and practising repeatedly until it clicks. I also believe in teaching mostly skills that are directly applicable to a profession or industry in the real world. Learning general skills in software is important, but understanding how to leverage those skills to produce a final deliverable product is what gets you a paycheck.
