About Me

I am a recent graduate from Salisbury University with a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing. I've always had a passion for literature and have been writing since I was a little girl, from silly short stories to researched nonfiction pieces. My goal is to earn my masters in a fiction program, publish more of my work, and eventually become a writing professor!

Experience

I'm a poetry editor for Poet Lore, and a fiction editor for 149 Review. Working for journals has allowed me to read, digest, and understand various styles of writing. I write poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, which gives me a deeper understanding of language. I did a pedagogy in my undergrad where I taught an introductory writing class, provided feedback, and worked with students to progress their skills. I also previously taught preschool and worked at a learning center.

Approach

As a child, I wasn't able to read until the second grade and dealt with a lot of embarrassment and insecurity when being pulled for comprehension groups or asked to read aloud. As a tutor, my desire is to encourage students in all aspects of reading and writing by first building a foundation of trust and support, and learning what specific topics interest the student to build their reading skills upon.
