Fun Facts

I am a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team. I was born and raised in Minnesota, and watching the game was a huge family tradition that I continue to follow even though my parents have passed on and my siblings and I are living in different states. I bleed Purple.

About Me

Before I became a education/texas/fort-worth">special education teacher, I was a journalist straight out of college. I have experience in research, writing, photography, interviewing skills, and graphic layout and design. After the newspaper industry transitioned online, I became a teacher, which has become my second passion. I have met many challenges throughout my 10 years of self-contained classrooms and have learned to differentiate and modify all core subjects to meet the individual needs of each and every one of my students.

Experience

I was awarded a Lifetime Membership to the Texas PTA. My reporting years with the Cleburne ISD. I am a certified Special Olympics Coach. I manage a caseload of students. I develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans, Functional Behaviour Plans and Behaviour Intervention Plans. I work in my classroom as a team with my Paraprofessionals.

Approach

I plan and implement appropriate instructional or learning strategies and activities, including project-based learning, student-directed learning activities and enhance lessons using a variety of technology platforms based on differentiated learning needs.
