Fun Facts

I was born in California, but have lived in Texas for most of my life. I went back to CA and taught middle school ELAR for six years. I moved back two years ago. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, working out, jogging, and crafting.

About Me

I currently teach Elementary-Level Math and work with education/texas/fort-worth">Special Education students in PK through 6th grade. I have previously taught English Language Arts students in all grade levels: elementary, middle, and high school. This is my 29th year working as an educator. My roles have included: ESL teacher, 9-12 English teacher, Middle School ELAR/Writing teacher, 9th grade Reading teacher, 10th grade Pre-AP/Gifted and Talented Teacher, Assistant Principal, LPAC Lead Teacher, Assistant Tennis and Cross Country Coach, and education/texas/fort-worth">Special Education teacher.

Experience

This is year thirty for me working with students in an educational setting. I have a vast knowledge base that I have acquired over the years as I have worked with students of all ages, from four to twenty-one (and beyond). I have also worked with struggling readers and writers, as well as second-language learners. ThroughouI my careertaken on some leadership roles, such as Department Lead or Grade-Level Lead. I have experience working as both a teacher and as the administrator

Approach

As for my childhood, my struggles did not usually occur in the school setting, as my challenges were mostly found at home. For me, school was my safe place. My teachers were encouraging, welcoming, and compassionate. I try to model this same approach in my teaching style, and this is the reason that I became a teacher.
