About Me

J.P. Morgan SWE Intern | UTD CS Major | Making Programming/ science/texas/garland">Computer Science Click

Hi, I'm Steven!

I’m a science/texas/garland">Computer Science major at UTD with a passion for building software and helping others survive the "weed out" classes. Currently, I’m preparing for my upcoming Software Engineering internship at J.P. Morgan, where I’ll be working on large-scale financial systems. I've interned at Uber and two start-ups, so I have a great understanding of what these companies look for and how to bridge the gap between academia and corporate.

If you're looking for more than just a subject matter expert, for a professional connection and mentor outside of academics, then I'm your guy.

Experience

Software Engineering Summer Intern | J.P. Morgan & Chase (Incoming Summer 2026)

Selected for the highly competitive SWE program, focusing on developing enterprise-scale financial applications.

Specialized in Agile methodologies and robust system architecture skills, I bring these skills directly to my tutoring sessions to help students write "industry-grade" code.

Uber Career Prep Fellow | Uber (2026 Cohort)

Participant in a selective, accelerated technical fellowship focused on advanced data structures,

Approach

I'm a first-generation Hispanic and University student, so I personally know how hard it is to make something out of nothing, especially since I came into college with no CS background or help around me. I had to "learn how to learn" as programming/computer science is an entirely different subject than all the others. I apply this "learning how to learn" principle for every subject, and each has its own specific nuances to optimize learning efficiency and retention.

My background includes comprehensive coursework in core areas such as Computer Architecture, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of theoretical and practical concepts. Beyond my studies, I am an incoming Software Engineering intern at J.P. Morgan and a participant in the Uber Career Prep program, allowing me to mentor students with both academic rigour and real-world industry standards.

C++ Tutoring

I have achieved exceptional results in the core C++ sequence at UTD, notably earning an A+ in Computer Science I (CS 1337) and a B in Computer Science II (CS 2336). My expertise covers essential topics such as Object Oriented Programming (OOP), advanced pointers, and dynamic memory management. I focus on teaching students how to move beyond basic syntax to master the low level logic and debugging skills required for high-level software development.

Computer Programming Tutoring

I am proficient in the fundamentals of software development, having earned an A- in Introduction to CS and Software (CS 1200) and a B+ in Programming Fundamentals (CS 1436). Through my experience with Uber Career Prep and various freelance projects, I have developed a deep understanding of algorithmic problem solving and clean code practices. I am passionate about breaking down complex, abstract programming concepts into simple, manageable steps to help students build confidence in their own coding abilities.

AP Computer Science Tutoring

I provide high school students with a competitive edge by teaching the core principles of Java and Object-Oriented Programming through the lens of industry standards. Having earned an A+ in Computer Science I (CS 1337) at UT Dallas and secured a Software Engineering internship at J.P. Morgan, I understand exactly how to bridge the gap between classroom theory and exam success. My goal is to help students achieve a 5 on the AP Exam by mastering recursion, array manipulation, and classes while building a mental framework for future college level coursework.

Java Tutoring

I have a comprehensive understanding of Java, evidenced by my successful completion of Computer Science II (CS 2336) at UT Dallas. My expertise includes core Java concepts such as Object Oriented Programming (OOP), inheritance, polymorphism, and the implementation of fundamental data structures like Linked Lists, Stacks, and Queues. Beyond academics, I leverage my experience from the Uber Career Prep program and my incoming Software Engineering internship at J.P. Morgan to teach students how to write clean, industry-standard Java code that is both efficient and scalable.

Python Tutoring

As an experienced developer with a background in both startups and freelance software development, I utilize Python as a primary tool for rapid prototyping and automation. I am proficient in Python’s unique syntax and powerful libraries, focusing on helping students master data structures, algorithmic logic, and functional programming. My approach combines the academic rigor of my UT Dallas CS degree with the practical, problem solving mindset.
