Fun Facts

I love to travel and have been to at least 40 states. While in the Navy, I crossed the Pacific and Indian Oceans twice, visiting the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Perth, Australia. I lived in Okinawa for 2 years. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and learning about their culture, history, and traditions. I enjoy fishing and have fished in every ocean except the Arctic. I am an avid reader and am fascinated by history, and when travelling, I visit museums of all kinds.

About Me

I am a computer professional in the business world, working in Finance, Customer Service, HR, and IT. I have enjoyed working with people from everywhere, some with limited English. I am highly skilled in Excel, MS Access, Word, SQL, SSRS, VBA, VB, Windows, & basic computer skills. University studies include advanced classes in Calculus and Physics, Computers, Writing, English, Geography and Literature. I enjoy Math, Computers, History, Earth Sciences, and current events. I also read extensively.

Experience

I have been a Computer Professional for over 30 years, mostly at Microsoft and T-Mobile. I created, planned and taught classes in Excel, MS Access, and SQL. I also tutored coworkers in Excel, MS Access, SQL, VBA, and applications. I have extensive coding experience in SQL, SSRS, and MS Access and Excel using VBA. I created an application using Excel & VBA with over 8000 lines of code. I have taught children of all ages at my church for over 25 years, including teaching in a scouting program.

Approach

My approach centers on:
1. Build a trusting relationship by listening and focusing on him/her. This is done by taking time to learn about their background, likes, dislikes, culture, interests, & what they view as fun.
2. Using knowledge from parents, teachers, and me, develop lessons built for them using methods based on the student’s knowledge, learning style, likes, dislikes, and age.
3. Help them to know answers, understanding how they are derived, & have the wisdom to create other solutions.
