About Me

My name is Rodina, and I’ve been tutoring in some form since 2016 but my relationship with education goes back even further than that.

I’m a child of immigrants, and growing up meant navigating two languages, two worlds, and a school system my parents hadn’t experienced themselves. It wasn’t always easy, but they instilled in me early on that education was the foundation for everything. I took that seriously. Probably too seriously, if you ask my mom, who used to have to pull me away from my homework just to make sure I ate.

That work ethic carried me through. I went on to earn a degree in International Relations, giving me a strong foundation in history, global affairs, and the social sciences. I later pursued a graduate degree in Public Health, where I deepened my skills in statistics, research, and academic writing.

Along the way I was selected as both a Gates Millennium Scholar and a Greenhouse Scholar, two highly competitive national scholarships, which means I don’t just teach scholarship writing, I’ve lived it.

Outside of academics, I’m a tennis player. I played throughout high school and still get on the court whenever I can. I also love watching basketball and football. Sports have always been a big part of how I stay grounded and competitive in the best way.

That community spirit led my brother and me to co-found an organization in Denver, where we work with high school students, many of them first-generation just like we were, to help them navigate college applications and scholarship essays.

When I sit down with a student, I bring all of that with me. The patience. The personal experience. The academic background. And the genuine belief that every student is capable of more than they think.

Approach

I meet students where they are, not where I think they should be. Whether you’re in elementary school or college, I start by understanding how you think and what’s getting in the way, then we build from there.

My background in International Relations gives me a strong foundation in history and the social sciences. My graduate training in Public Health added depth in statistics, research, and academic writing. That combination means I can support students across a wide range of subjects and genu
