About Me

Hello! My name is Mollie McIntyre and I am a junior Early Childhood Education and Intervention Specialist Major at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio. When I graduate, I hope to get a teaching job here in Ohio in order to stay close to my family. I don't exactly have an ultimate goal, whether that be becoming a principal or something to that affect, but I LOVE working with students and as long as I'm doing that, I'll be happy :)

Since I am the youngest of five children, I have gained eight amazing nieces and nephews over the years and love nothing more than to help them with their homework. In addition to helping my family, I am also a columbus">tutor at Stewart Alternative Elementary School twice a week during which I work with five different students on various subjects. This semester, I am also working with a fifteen year old boy at the franklin">Franklin County JDC to prepare him to go back to school upon his release. My most rewarding experience would be my work with four English Language Learners at Ethiopian Student Services in Columbus, Ohio. We work together on homework and also on developing their English skills.

A big struggle I had in high school was why were learned what we learned. The hardest thing for me to understand was why every time I asked the purpose of a lesson, my teachers would reply "because I said so" or "because we have to learn about this." I never knew why they couldn't just give me a straight answer. My approach to columbus">tutoring is by always starting off with reason. What is the point in learning about rounding and decimals? This is useful because how can you be able to round up your bill at dinner for the tip or know how much change to give from the register at work if it crashes? We learn everything for a reason; not just because there is an almighty teacher picking and choosing what we do. Beginning every lesson with reason and then scaffolding through the work is something extremely important to me and how I approach differ
