Fun Facts
I love learning anything I can regarding social sciences and philosophy. I am the oldest of six children, and have one child of my own. He is the light of my life! I love warm weather, traveling and being outdoors; just relaxing or engaging in activities. Music is probably one of my most extensive hobbies, and I can play many instruments. I am very easy-going but I also stand up for what is right, even if I am alone. I love making crafts, laughing, and helping other people!
About Me
I am a junior at UNCC and my major is Middle Grades Education. I earned my Associate in Arts Degree in 2012, and currently work full-time, go to school full-time and keep a 3.6 GPA while raising a 2 year old! After I graduate, I still have several more degrees/certifications I'd like to obtain including education/north-carolina/charlotte">Special Education and AIG. My short term goal is to teach in the public school system and make a difference in students' lives. Eventually I would like to open my own charter school.
Experience
I don't have any official charlotte">tutoring experience. However, throughout my education starting in middle school, I have performed well. Because of this, many of my friends, acquaintances, and my siblings have at times asked for help with subject matter they were struggling with. Many times I have been able to provide tips for studying, reading-comprehension/north-carolina/charlotte">reading comprehension, writing, note taking and test taking; as well as provide supplemental instruction in all subject areas.
Approach
Having scholastic difficulties can be very stressful and can have a negative affect on students' self-efficacy and self-esteem. Using positive reinforcement to encourage students, building a bond of trust with the student so that they feel comfortable asking questions, and helping to provide the tools necessary so that they can achieve their highest potential; I aim to be a part of a support network designed around students' needs and goals so that they can get the most out of education.

Middle Grades Education
Biology Tutoring
I completed Honors Biology while in high school (2008) with an A. At the college/university level, completed General Biology I/Lab with an A at Appalachian State University and General Biology II/Lab with a A at Rowan Cabarrus Community College.I find Biology to be an easy subject to learn because I find it extremely interesting.
English Tutoring
As soon as my school district permitted, beginning in 7th grade and continuing throughout high school, I have taken advanced/honors English classes and performed extremely well. My current major at UNCC is Middle Grades Education concentrations in English and Science, and have taken many upper-level English courses at the university level.
Homework Coach Tutoring
When I began college I made use of many study skill workshops and events so that I could learn the skills needed to perform well in my studies that had increased in difficulty.
In addition, being that my Bachelor's degree will be in Education, I have learned tips for adapting content material to fit specific student's needs and help students retain not just memorize information.
Geometry Tutoring
I took Geometry in 2006 and since then have satisfied math requirements for both my Associate's degree and my Bachelor's degree. I have taken math classes as difficult as Pre-Calculus I and had to use extensive math skills in University-level Physics which I received an A in both the class and lab and still use formulas of Geometry in my daily life.
History Tutoring
I have performed very well in History courses all of my life throughout middle/high school and college/university due to my affinity and high-performance in English and the strong connection between the two subjects. In high-school I took Honors World History, Honors Civics & Economics, and Honors U.S. History. In college I have taken European History to 1660, Western History & Culture, and Intro to American Politics.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
I took Pre-Algebra in 7th grade in 2004, Algebra in 8th grade in 2005, and Algebra II in 2007 my Sophomore year in high school. Since then have satisfied math requirements for high school graduation on the College-Prep Track, my Associate's degree and my Bachelor's degree. In addition I had to use extensive math skills in University-level Physics which I received an A in both the class and lab.
Psychology Tutoring
In college I have taken General Psychology I and General Psychology II and received A's in both courses. Psychology is perhaps my favorite elective subject and find it very easy to comprehend and retain the information in this field, I do my own readings and learning on my own time now that I have no more elective credits.
Religion Tutoring
In college, I took both Western and Eastern Religions courses, receiving A's in both courses. I have also taken Religious Electives such as Religion & Science and Ethics studies and received exemplary grades in those courses as well.
