Fun Facts

As far back as I can remember all I wanted to do was dance! Unfortunately, my desires and my coordination did not agree with each other, so I had to settle for a seat in the audience. I do still love to dance though! Along with dancing I love reading, singing, being outdoors, and playing with my 3 and a half year old daughter.

About Me

I am a senior at the University of Texas Arlington majoring in Elementary Education. Within the next year or two, I would like pursue a Master’s degree in Math or Science. My college experience has been very positive and I hope to carry that positive attitude over into my next endeavor; tutoring!

Throughout my student teaching experience in HEB, I have had a chance to work with students in both large and small group settings as well as individually. I enjoy all three situations, however being able to work one-on-one with a student enables me to really delve into that student’s learning style and figure out what it is specifically that student needs. Math and Science are my favorite subjects to teach, but I have also had experience in Reading and Comprehension.

Early on, school was easy for me…then I entered college and actually had to study! It took me a while to figure out the study strategies that worked best for me; what type of learner was I? Turns out, I am much more of a visual and tactile (hands-on) learner than I thought! I am one that needs to be able to see and do in order to learn. My goal is to identify the learning style that best fits my student and then modify the content in order to accommodate for their learning style. To put it simply, teach the student in a way they can best understand. As a tutor, I feel that it is my responsibility to help each student identify their learning style and to then teach that student learning strategies that will best suit their learning style. This will enable each student to be able to “help” themselves with their work in the classroom, at home, and life in general. I am very excited to have this opportunity to work with your student one-on-one!
