Fun Facts

Someone people learn about me very quickly is that I am a very fun-loving person. I love books and reading but I also dabble in photography, creative writing and archery. Once it hits springtime, it's impossible to find me inside: I'm at craft-shows, book readings, hiking or just enjoying the sun.

About Me

I am a MFA candidate in Writing and Publishing at the maryland/baltimore">baltimore">University of maryland/baltimore">Baltimore where I am a member of two honor societies. I've been on the dean's list since my undergraduate career in salisbury">salisbury-university">salisbury">Salisbury University where I graduated with honors from their BA in English Literature. I also spent four amazing months abroad in Florence, Italy studying the classics: Dante, Boccaccio and Homer. By day I am a professional writer/editor for Agora Financial, the leading financial publisher in maryland/baltimore">Baltimore

Experience

During my time in salisbury">salisbury-university">salisbury">Salisbury University, I took several education classes to better understand the psychology of learning and the latest methodology behind the way we all learn. I was able to mentor under a local high school for several weeks as a Teaching Assistant (TA) where I taught several classes, helped grade, helped make lesson plans an so on. My MFA (which will be conferred onto me on May 19th) is a terminal degree. That means I have the certification to teach at the collegiate level.

Approach

When I was in High School and younger I never cared much for school. To be honest, I was lazy. I didn't want to be forced to learn things I didn't want to learn. Once I hit college, I realized that that mentality can be crippling to your future. I changed my life around and changed the way I viewed learning. Since then, I have received two degrees with Honors. As a maryland/maryland/baltimore">baltimore">tutor, I attempt to bring the lessons I learned as struggling student to help change how learning is viewed and handled.
