Fun Facts

I love kayaking in the warm weather and being in the mountains when it is cold. I played soccer in high school, I currently play tennis for fun, and I enjoy watching ice hockey. I love listening to music, being creative, and reading. I have taught myself to crochet and to juggle, though I need a lot more practice at both, and I am an amateur baker. I have a black cat named Luna, but I love all animals. I grew up in England, but moved to the States shortly before starting high school.

About Me

I am a recent Anthropology graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, where I focused on Archaeology. I plan to attend grad school in the near future to study the Viking migration period and their influence on culture and language across the North Atlantic region.

I have Associate's degrees in General Arts and in Science with a focus in Biology. Before I decided I want to be an anthropologist, I studied art history and architecture for three years at Indiana State University.

Experience

I've never been a topeka">tutor before, outside of helping friends, but I organized and led several study sessions for my classmates during my senior seminar. I also worked for Disability Support Services during my senior year, which involved being assigned to a classmate with a learning disability with whom I shared my notes and ensured comprehension of the materials covered. I am eager for the opportunity to help students understand material and realize their potential.

Approach

As a child, I wanted nothing more than to be archaeologist but when I got into high school science classes, I struggled with comprehension and decided that I should switch my career goals to avoid science. It took me eight years after graduating high school to realize I just needed the material explained differently. I can't wait to be the person to help a child comprehend a subject and encourage them to be excited about learning in a way that I didn't have.

I also studied drawing techniques, both artistic and technical, and hand rendering.
