Fun Facts

One of the hardest questions to answer for me is "Where are you from?" It should be a simple answer but I've moved eleven times in my life, averaging about 2 years per place. It's been a blessing to have traveled so much, the world has so much to offer. Intrinsically, I'm a poet fueled by passion for the world that we all share in. One day, I hope through my research in the sciences and appreciation of at, to piece together one of the greatest mysteries of humanity: the origin of consciousness.

About Me

I am a recent graduate from the miami">University of Miami. I majored in Psychology with a minor in Classical Literature & Civilization with a focus of pre-medicine. I am currently approaching the next phase of my educational career, seeking a Masters in Counseling. Ultimately, I aim to achieve a PsyD and open a practice founded on a core value of empathy. I've successfully completed a Psychiatric Clerkship at Cornell Medical School; as well as completed a post-doctoral workshop in Protein Engineering.

Experience

Upon entering Freshmen year of college at Florida International University, people began to request help in studying for Biology classes. By the end of my first year, I was doing group miami">tutoring sessions of 17 or so fellow students. The word soon spread that I enjoyed explaining and teaching subjects of all sorts. When I transferred to UM, I was requested by individuals to miami">tutor in Psychology and the sciences. In the past 2 years, I've regularly tutored all subjects, with the most being essays.

Approach

I was considered to be an unconventional student, I fidgeted and stood at my desk. Although, some of my elementary teachers thought this to be a distraction, I learned to control and harness this energy and this allowed me to consistently score at the top of my class. I've found in growing, that each person has their own method to which they learn best. My method is rooted in aiding people to discover themselves a reason to study the subject. My mantra is: one cannot learn if one does not care.

Biology I Tutoring

A+ in Bio 1. I have worked in genetic research, genetic engineering, and protein engineering; these subjects are the majority of Biology 1. I've worked in determining and analyzing mutations for Autism Spectrum Disorders that had a familial lineage, specifically sex-related chromosomal disorders. Fluent in all lab work that pairs with Biology 1: PCR, Gel electrophoresis, RNA extractions, Yeast Artificial Chromosomes.

Biology II Tutoring

A+ in Bio 2. I was invited by the Dean of the Psychiatry Department at Weil-Cornell Medical School to do their clerkship with no prior medical school history and scored second highest in the class. I've worked in understanding human systems and how they interact, specifically with regards to pharmaceuticals and possible side-effects as well as understanding the physiological basis of mental disorders; this also required I have a strong understanding of medicine in general to evaluate for comorbid disorders. I have a strong understanding of taxonomy due to working with bacterial mediums for research and specifically studying evolutionary changes from one family to another on an evolutionary scale in order to generalize newly researched information to apply to higher evolved organisms from E.Coli to rats to bonobos to humans.

History Tutoring

Received credit in University for AP U.S. History. Minored to the point of being one class away from a major in Classical Civilization specializing in Greco-Roman history from 500BCE to 200ADE. I've functioning knowledge of Ancient Latin and Ancient Greek languages. I've taken and received A's in two graduate level courses with relation to history, noteworthy of this is a class on Healthcare systems with former U.S. Secretary of Health: Donna Shalala. I've been to over 15 different countries where I've explored their museums and history.

Psychology Tutoring

I majored in psychology at University of Miami and have practiced psychiatry with actual patients at Cornell Medical School. I have diagnosed, prescribed, and successfully treated patients ranging from depression to schizophrenia with psychosis and antisocial personality disorder. I've studied a range of psychology from history of psychology to behavioral analysis to gender studies to psychobiology in the neuroscience field. Psychology is one of my greatest passions to say the least.

Aside from scoring in the top quarter of all exam takers for the GRE, the graduate level exam, I've read the majority of classical literature from Plato to Homer to Aldous Huxley and George Orwell. I've a minor in Classical Literature. I've successfully aced senior college level courses on poetry. I am a hobbyist writer who studies etymology. I've studied Ancient Latin and Ancient Greek, as well as Modern Arabic so that I can develop a strong understanding of prefixes, roots, and suffixes adopted by the English language. I read for fun with an average speed of about a hundred pages an hour.

Study Skills Tutoring

I have worked with patients from a variety of cultures and mindsets in a psychiatric setting, this allows me to be able to understand and curtail my teaching methodology to best suit the individual student's needs. I've taken Kaplan test prep for SAT, SAT Subject Exam, and GRE and Princeton Review for ACT and have found the best information from each of these. I've established a methodology that I've taught to previous students on how to read more efficiently via my understanding of psychology and practices.

Aside from scoring in the top fifth of all exam takers for the on my first attempt of the GRE, the graduate level exam, I've written for fun in the past month over one hundred pages. I've successfully aced senior college level courses on poetry composition. I've aided in writing laboratory research publications on subjects such as psoriasis, Fragile-X syndrome, and protein engineering. I am a hobbyist writer who studies etymology. I have three poems currently undergoing archiving at the University of Miami library. I've studied Ancient Latin and Ancient Greek, as well as Modern Arabic so that I can develop a strong understanding of prefixes, roots, and suffixes adopted by the English language so that I can expand my vernacular. I read for fun with an average speed of about a hundred pages an hour and I have methods to teach on how to write an essay on any given subject.
