Fun Facts

I recently got married in April and my husband is also a Frog Tutor. I also have a daughter that just finished the first grade. She is a handful but so much fun!! I also have a sweet dog. He is treated as a part of our family and is a little too spoiled. I am very very excited to be a teacher and love helping children learn.

About Me

I am a senior middle school education major at Texas Christian University. I transferred to TCU last year from Tarrant County College. I was on the Dean's list for 4 semesters and I am member of Phi Theata Kappa and Kappa Delta Pi Honor's Societies. When I graduate I plan to become a middle school teacher in the DFW area. I also plan to return to TCU for my masters in education but I know I will be a teacher for life!

My daughter gives me an abundance of tutoring time every week and I tutor a ninth grade student several times a month. Also, since I am an education major, every semester I get a chance to work with students in the classroom. I enjoy helping students understand their work. I am glad that frog tutoring will allow me to help more students and I am looking forward to helping them succeed!

I feel that I have a good background for tutoring students. I have taken many classes on motivating and helping students, and I strive to bring that to my tutoring approach. Every student learns differently and I believe problems stem less from the material and more from the way information is conveyed. It is hard for some students to learn because of the way the information is presented to them and it is hard for teachers to accommodate all of their students. That is why a tutor is great, it is a one on one interaction which allows the tutor to cater to the individual student. My tutoring approach is just that, I try and find ways to convey the information that fits the student. I also try and take small steps that the student can achieve quickly, which allows the student to build confidence in the subject. My number one goal is to encourage and find a way that the student can "get it."
