Fun Facts
Traveling is one of my greatest passions. I have been fortunate enough to visit seven countries and engage in adventure activities such as scuba diving, skiing, white water rafting, and zip lining. Reading is also a great passion since, when unable to physically travel, I can travel anywhere with my imagination.
About Me
Currently I am pursuing a master’s in Bicultural and Bilingual Studies with a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) certificate. Upon graduation, I hope to teach English abroad. My long term goal is to establish either a private or charter school.
As reading is one of my greatest pastimes, in the past I have tutored elementary and middle school aged children in reading/literature to include vocabulary development and comprehension. Additionally, due to my extensive vocabulary and well developed grammar skills, I have tutored and assisted students with their writing skills. I am a fully bilingual and biliterate individual and am, hence, able to provide assistance with Spanish language courses.
Often, when struggling with a subject, we tend to only focus on the unknown when we should be focusing on what is known. Therefore, when approaching a challenging subject, my method is to first identify what the student does understand in order to provide a solid foundation upon which knowledge can be built. Then, I identify what they do not understand and teach suitable approaches to resolve difficulty.
