Fun Facts
I am very devoted to antiquing for furniture and then refinishing the piece of furniture to become a new work of art. In my latest project, I just completed an old sewing machine desk. Sewing machine desks have two flaps that fold out for more work space. What I did was nail the flaps down and putty in-between the cracks for a flush surface. I next sanded down the entire desk to the original grain and painted a grey on top. I then painted a light blue and lightly sanded the corners and edges
About Me
I am a sophomore Pre-Business major where I am either going to pursue an Accounting or Marketing degree. If I pursue Accounting I want to become a Certified Public Accountant. My ulitmate goal is to open up my own business where I sell my antiques and have a boutique. I love math and want to share this passion with others.
Experience
In high school I had the opportunity to tutor an 11th and 12th grader in algebra II and pre-calculas. I loved this experience because when he understood a concept, he was so excited and started to love math. I helped improve his grade by a whole letter. Being able to tutor would bring so much joy into my life being able to see the kids faces light up!
Approach
As a child, I struggled with recognizing numbers. I couldn't do math quickly and it took me try after try to realize I recognized the wrong number. It turns out that I have dyslexia when it comes to numbers. I decide that I would not let this beat me down. I started going to tutoring and working through this challenge. I now am able to recognize quickly and figure out the right number. It took me a while to learn how to do this, but I would love to tutor and help kids to persevere.
