Fun Facts
I have my scuba diving certification! My whole family is certified, as well as some of my closest friends. My favorite foods are mashed potatoes and avocados. I am obsessed with pugs :)
About Me
I graduated from Appalachian State University very recently. I have one year of teaching experience in CMS schools, specifically in elementary special education. My GPA in college was a 3.8 cumulative. I spent every semester either on the Chancellor's or Dean's lists. I am now working for a small non-profit that specializes in working with young adults with disabilities.
Experience
I tutored and worked with students throughout my year of teaching. I also tutored a 9th grade student in English, study skills, and helped her become more organized. In this time, she was able to bring her quarter grade from failing, to an 80%. My experience is endless since I do have a degree in teaching.
Approach
I understand that every child needs something different. My approach is finding what motivates your child and what your child enjoys. If you cannot make this fun or relatable, then that child will not care. Part of teaching special education is being able to differentiate. This means that each child learns differently, and you must teach in these different ways to best meet that child's need. I am incredibly positive and energetic and approachable, helping break down barriers with students.
