Fun Facts

Two things about me that people will figure out is that I was a former actress(especially in college) and that I am currently writing a YA novel. I still try to audition occasionally and it's a good way to meet new people and really understand a character's actions and thought processes. I have been working on my story for quite some time( two years) and hope someday to have it published. I also have a younger sister, a love of reading, and enjoy traveling to different places.

About Me

I am currently in the process of getting certified as an Elementary school teacher and am taking courses at Florida International University. Almost every semester, I have been on the Dean's List and am in the top 15% in my university. By the end of next year, I hope to have my professional teaching certificate for the state of Florida.

My miami">tutoring experience began a couple of years ago when I was a sophomore at Florida International University. I tutored freshmen in the Writing Center for reading composition. This was a weekly job where I helped many students coming in and out of the Writing Center. I recently tutored a few elementary school students who were struggling with reading and have worked in a classroom with special needs students.

When I was very young, I struggled in school. I wasn't very organized and I had trouble understanding concepts. it took the efforts of my Elementary school teachers and my parents to teach me proper note-taking techniques as well as great study habits and a good work ethic. It also helped that I was very driven to succeed academically. This guidance allowed me to become one of the top students in my class as well as develop a life-long love of learning.My miami">tutoring philosophy is to help students organize themselves and learn good notetaking techniques so they won't feel overwhelmed and stressed about school. Great enthusiasm for the subject as well as guiding students towards a solution is key to academic success. It's important to tailor a lesson plan to the students' needs( whether they are visual, auditory, or tactile learners) and help them to understand the "why's" of a problem rather than a quick and meaningless solution.
