Fun Facts
One of my all time favorite passions is tap dancing and I have been doing it since I was in 3rd grade. My favorite type of food is Mexican food (especially enchiladas or chile rellenos). My favorite animal is a turtle and I actually have a collection of turtle trinkets from gifts people have given me or souvenirs I have picked up on travels. I received my Master's abroad and have been to many different countries.
About Me
I am a museum professional who has always enjoyed researching history and art but I am especially interested in understanding what draws people to history and the objects that are housed within museums. I currently work for an art museum and hope to continue down this professional path and specifically work in educational resource development for museums: creating the educational resources about museum collections for the visitor.
Experience
As a Writing Consultant at my first University I had the opportunity to help individuals of all levels improve their writing skills while also insuring that each student maintained personal ownership over their own ideas and individual projects. I also tutored students in high school math and college algebra course. I loved working in these one-on-one environments as I believe education is power and love to help students feel empowered to succeed.
Approach
At the Writing Center where I previously worked, our approach to education was to ask many questions of the students letting the students explain their rationale and reasoning behind their thinking. Through this dialogue and conversation I was able to see that each student has a different process to learning and therefore I am attuned to a variety of learning styles and look forward to adapting my tutoring style with the individual students' learning styles.
