Fun Facts

I've played piano for 13 years and I'm a huge San Antonio Symphony fan. From classical to rock to jazz, I love to play piano with other groups, like the campus worship team, as well as for my own enjoyment.
I also love to travel. Taking a year off between high school and college to live and travel in Europe was one of the best choices I've made, and an experience I am always ready to share.

About Me

As a senior at Trinity University, I am excited to put my education to work. I have a major in political science and a minor in music. After graduation, I will receive a commission into the U.S. Air Force as an officer but until then, tutoring is great way to start sharing what I have learned now.

Through the Junior Achievement program, I worked with a local elementary school teacher during my senior year of high school to teach a class (basic economics) in six sessions. After graduating high school, I took a year off to work and travel in Europe. Through word of mouth I was able to teach 15 students in a range of skill levels piano technique, music theory, and overall music appreciation. I enjoyed teaching piano since every day that I taught I had a chance to see my student's face light up as they played something they had been unable to play before.

I have three goals for every tutoring session. First, I guide my student along to encourage them to discover the answer for themselves. Second, I strive to birth an interest in the student for what was once a difficult subject, helping them to see its purpose and working hard to master it. And finally, I equip them to create the tools they need to study on their own, like outlines, flash cards, and organization. When we meet these goals together, my student is now aiming for their future independence in learning.
