Fun Facts
I enjoy karaoke, performing in improv theatre, and play bass in an indie rock band.
About Me
I graduated from Portland State University with a BSEE in 2013 with a GPA of 3.89. I currently work at Tektronix full-time as a software engineer, and hope to utilize Frog Tutoring to make extra cash in a way that is rewarding and helpful to others. I live in Beaverton and have a car to get me anywhere in the area!
Experience
I am slowly working toward a Masters in Electrical Engineering at Portland State University, with emphasis in Digital Signal Processing. I understand the math behind algorithms that accomplish things like computer vision, machine learning, and audio effects. I also have years of experience as a musician and can intuitively explain music theory and how to play guitar. I have tutored college-level algebra before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Approach
I believe that the best way to learn a given subject depends on the subject. Sometimes, it is necessary to understand fundamental principles, other times it is easier to learn shortcuts and tricks that get the job done. It also depends on how dedicated the student is to the material. I simply want to offer whatever wisdom I can to help the student meet goals.

Graduate CourseworkGuitar Tutoring
I have been playing guitar for almost 20 years. I took lessons myself for ~2 years in high school, where I gained a complete understanding of music theory. I played guitar in my high school jazz band, and proceeded to play in various rock projects to this very day.
Music Theory Tutoring
Music Theory is really just a language, and like any language, learning it is a matter of time and exposure. The guitar is a great way to learn music theory. Jazz chords are beautiful, complex, and I know how to use 'em.
C Tutoring
I work full-time at Tektronix, where I help maintain a code base written almost entirely in C. I am very familiar with all the syntax, data types, pointers, etc.
MATLAB Tutoring
I have been using MATLAB for over 5 years for school projects. I've used it to prototype things like computer vision systems, musical key detectors, angle of arrival estimators, and other signal processing feats.
Python Tutoring
I learned Python for my senior capstone project, which involved putting a computer vision system on a quadcopter to give it autonomous flight control. I used it extensively while working at Lattice Semiconductor for rapid data analysis. Python can do just about anything you need, and it's all free!
