Fun Facts

I played the bassoon and tenor saxophone in high school and bought my own bassoon to continue playing for fun. I love to play sand volleyball with my friends in the Texas heat. The reason I am attending school in washington/seattle">Seattle is because I found washington/seattle">seattle-university">washington/seattle">Seattle University in a magazine about the best private universities for science and engineering.

About Me

I graduated high school with a 4.0 out of 5.0 GPA throughout all four years and received my International Baccalaureate Diploma. I am not attending washington/seattle">seattle-university">washington/seattle">Seattle University majoring in Environmental Engineering and minoring in Mathematics and possibly Physics. Although I am not entirely certain where I will end up after college, I know I want to work within the public and to help improve our treatment of the environment.

My experience with washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutoring and mentoring began in elementary school when my 5th grade class was assigned a kindergartener to mentor. From there, I continued washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutoring in high school when a new program was introduced for high schoolers to washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutor/mentor at risk students at the local middle school. In addition, this past year I tutored elementary and middle school aged students at the East African Community Services and am currently a member of a mentoring program at washington/seattle">seattle-university">washington/seattle">Seattle University working with kids in the King County Juvenile Detention Center.

My approach to washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutoring is to provide the student with a model that they can use when they are on their own. I believe in helping the student come to their own conclusions rather than giving them the answers. I try to ensure that the student is engaged and interested in what they are learning, and to achieve this, I find specific examples and explanations that the student can relate to and understand.
