Fun Facts

My name is Amanda and one of my favorite hobbies is playing Rugby. American Football evolved from Rugby; however in Rugby, the only protection you wear is a mouthguard and it is still a full-contact sport. I have been playing for 4 years and it is the first sport I have ever played. In addition to Rugby, I am an avid animal fan and my favorite animals are rabbits. I have 2 Holland Lop bunny boys that i enjoy playing with and watching grow. I also love video games and I enjoy being active.

About Me

I completed by BA in Political Science in May, 2012 at Michigan State University. I am currently attending wayne-state-university">Wayne State University for my Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Urban and Metropolitan Policy and Management. I am interested in the area of education policy because I believe that education is the answer to alleviating a multitude of problems that cities face such as poverty and crime.

My early experiences with detroit">tutoring began in high school with National Honor Society. Since then I have tutored a multitude of grade levels, ranging from elementary to college. I have aided students who were struggling to obtain credit in courses meet their goals and acquire a grasp on subjects that previously eluded them and get them excited about learning.

My detroit">tutoring approach is to be as open as possible with the student and learn what is of interest to them. This helps me to better understand the student as an individual so they will feel at ease working with me and it will help me to create examples using real life scenarios that may be of particular interest to them so they will better retain the knowledge and have an applicable example.
