I've lived and traveled in a total of 16 countries. I love to meet people from different cultures and hear their stories, and I have a lot of interesting tales to tell. It can be challenging living outside your comfort zone but you always grow and learn to appreciate differences and idiosyncrasies.

For hobbies I like to knit and sew, and I'm working on writing a book.

About Me

I'm in my late 30's and have experience and interest in a number of fields. I have a Master of Science in life science and an undergraduate degree in sculpture - so I'm both left brained and right brained! I love language too, and have worked for many years as a science editor; I've taught art in schools and have also developed technical training curriculum for adults. No matter what field I'm working in, I love to teach it to others and have a gift for being able to explain just about anything to just about anyone.

I tutored one-on-one for several years at a high-quality agency in Southern California, math and English levels K-11. Some of my clients were ESL students which has its unique challenges, but also made it more rewarding to see their progress. I've also tutored middle and high school aged children of my close friends and family.

My approach to tucson">tutoring begins with the basic belief that all children have the potential to learn. I empathize with the anxieties children can build up with some subjects, especially math, and I try to create a relaxed, neutral atmosphere where they can gain confidence in their own natural abilities. Test scores are an important measure of learning, but it's important to me also to nurture intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn itself, as this will carry them through many academic challenges. I pay attention to the student's individual learning style and always try to adapt lessons to suit them. I'm very friendly and approachable, mature, exceedingly patient, but also professional.
