Fun Facts

I am passionate about education, politics, and entrepreneurship. I am particularly interested in writing my future dissertation on the effects and power of business and education on urban communities. I am applying to Ph.D. programs with concentrations of business, urban studies, and educational leadership, for the fall of 2013.

About Me

I am Courtney Hixon, a 2008 chemistry graduate from Xavier University, with a solid foundation in research and formulation chemistry. Since my graduation from Xavier, I have worked in product development and research for Fashion Fair Cosmetics, L'Oreal, and Tri-K Industries. I am also a M.S. graduate of dickinson-university">Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a current MBA student in Houston, Texas.

In addition, I attained 1 year of teaching experience within Orleans Parish schools of New Orleans, LA, while attending Xavier University. After a few years of corporate work, I was eager to begin working with students again, and started sub-teaching within Houston ISD. Working for Frog houston">Tutoring gives me the opportunity to impact even more lives of students that need help. I plan to pursue a doctoral degree, in order to teach collegiate audiences in the future.

As a high school student, I struggled with my senior chemistry course. In college, I
was fortunate enough to have several professors who, through positive encouragement and persistency, helped
me realize my true potential. As a houston">tutor, I attempt to bring this attitude to all of my sessions.
