Fun Facts

I was born and raised in Honduras, and I moved to the United States to attend college after completing high school. I have recently started to learn to cook, and it has become one of my favorite things to do. I wish someday, I could become an expert in the kitchen. I really LOVE sweets, they always make my day better, but I have to watch out for the ones containing coconut. I am very allergic!

About Me

I have a friendly outgoing personality; I work well with others and I have strong communication skills. All of which have allowed me to thrive and become the person that I am now. I truly enjoy working in environments that allow me to combine my scientific skills with my love for mentoring students and serving others, which I have acquired in my years as a teacher assistant and my diverse volunteering experiences. After graduating from Barry University, I am working on gaining additional laboratory research experience by working as a research assistant at miami">University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Additionally, I have dedicated most of my time to study for the MCAT exam and applying to medical school.

While I was in college, I worked as a teacher assistant for Human Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Human Physiology laboratories, for two years. Currently, I work in an afterschool program, which strives to engage student’s interest in the field of science through fun and completely interactive labs. As a lab instructor, I am responsible of teaching a weekly session to elementary students from ages 6 to 11. I introduce a science topic to them, and while performing the lab activities; I enhance their vocabulary on the subject and encourage them to develop their socialization and critical thinking skills.

My diverse experience has allowed me to develop techniques and learn how to personalize my teaching approach to meet the individual needs from each student, while helping them gain confidence, for them to discover and explore their own potential to succeed. I will achieve this by identifying each student’s weaknesses and focus on them during the miami">tutoring sessions. Additionally, the miami">tutoring sessions should also focus on reviewing the new content that will be studied in class, in order for the student to be ahead.
