I absolutely love reading in my spare time. I like to read about education, comedy, and science fiction. I also enjoy baking and creating new recipes. I enjoy traveling and trying new foods at any chance I get!
About Me
My name is Ashlee and I am in my last semester of college at the University of Houston Clear Lake. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education. I have a 3.8 GPA and am a member of several academic and education based organizations. I have taken and passed all of the required certification exams to become a teacher in Texas. After graduating in May 2016 I plan to teach at the elementary level while obtaining a Master's in Education.
Experience
I have experience in student-teaching at all levels of instruction in the public school system. I currently student-teach at the elementary level. I have a background in substitute teaching as well. I currently work with third grade students daily in all content areas. Thank to UHCL, I have been able to experience a wide variety of teaching styles all over the greater Houston area.
Approach
I believe that all students are capable of learning, but that we all learn in different ways. My teaching method is hands-on, interactive, and stimulating. Rather than teaching by lecture, I teach by having students actually do the task at hand. My inquiry-based style leaves students craving knowledge, prompting them to take ownership of their learning. I apply content to real-world experiences so students never have to wonder if what they are learning is valuable.
