Fun Facts

I studied abroad for a semester in Italy when I was an undergraduate student. I learned a lot about the Italian culture, traveled around Italy, and ate a mass amount of great Italian food. I recommend studying abroad to all students, it's an amazing life experience to be surrounded in a new culture, and appreciate the diversity of cultures. I learned in studying abroad that trying something new teaches you so much; it was a truly amazing experience.

About Me

I moved to Chicago last year to begin my master program, dual certification in Elementary Education and education/illinois/chicago">Special Education. I love living in the city and exploring all that the city has to offer. I am really looking forward to being a teacher soon,and am lucky to be in such a rewarding profession!

I am from Urbana and went to the University of Illinois for my undergraduate degree. I majored in Psychology and minored in English. I tutored elementary and high school students one on one in math and reading. Most recently I tutored high school student who are struggling readers implementing research based instructional methods for literacy. Currently I volunteer weekly at an after school program and help elementary and middle school students with their homework in all subjects.

I think the learning experience should be engaging and interactive. There are many different ways to explore and discover new things and use different methods to learn the same skill. I like to find the best ways in which each student learns that and use those learning strategies to learn new skills. Learning isn't about memorizing facts, it's about discovering new knowledge through creativity and critical thinking.
