Fun Facts

Between studying the brain and crowded by research articles, I spend much of my time cooking and painting. Cooking has always been a hobby of mine and seems to be quite stress relieving as well. I started painting a few years ago and have now become addicted to hoarding paintbrushes and other paint supplies so I may create something beautiful on a canvas (though it doesn't always end that way!).

About Me

I am a Masters student at UTSA and am studying neuroscience. I completed my Bachelors degree in both Biology and Psychology. My love and curiosity of the brain has led me down this path and I plan on pursuing a medical degree. Research is an extensive part of my studies and I hope to continue that as well during my medical training. Personally, I have undergone several challenges throughout my undergraduate years, but with persistence, I was able to attain my goals. I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark 2 years ago and learned invaluable lessons of the human race while studying medicine and literature. I was also fortunate to visit Estonia, Sweden, and Greece during my time abroad in order to study the medical communities there.

This will be my first experience with tutoring, but I do believe that with my special background, I will be able to effectively provide support for students. I am very patient and compassionate and I believe these qualities are very important in order to communicate with students. Throughout my undergraduate years, I have always been very helpful and encouraging for my classmates.

I hope to use my understanding of psychology to create effective study plans and ideas so that students may succeed. With the immense amount of memorization that comes with any science course, I have learned that mnemonics and visual aids are a great tool to be proficient in whatever it is that you may study. Active studying along with repetition has always been a winner, and I believe that engaging with the material in fun and interesting ways can help improve understanding. I also believe that ensuring that a student can sufficiently explain the material to others is important in gauging how well he or she has learned the material. Many students overlook the power of these techniques, but if one is persistent, the results will always show.

I am excited to be a tutor and mentor for students who need additional aid and I hope that I will not only help stu
