I am an energetic, outgoing, and creative person who enjoys running, swimming, diving, reading, ceramics, movies, and traveling. At my undergraduate institution of Skidmore College, I served as the captain of the swimming and diving team and currently still hold three college diving records. I am now an avid runner and ran the 2010 Chicago marathon, finishing in the top 1% of male and female runners.
About Me
After graduating with my B.A. in Psychology from Skidmore College (a highly selective liberal arts institution), I worked for four years for several advertising firms. Through that professional experience in a client-services role, I learned a great deal about effectively serving my business clients, striving to consistently meet their needs and exceed their expectations. I eventually came to realize, however, that I wanted to make a more direct impact on individuals’ lives and thus chose to transition into a career in counseling. For this reason, I decided to enroll in Loyola's Community Counseling graduate program and received my M.A. in Counseling this past May.
As part of my graduate program, I completed a professional internship last year where I worked for an agency that provides academic counseling services to children and adolescents in private Catholic schools. Through that experience, I developed a passion for serving children and youth in a school setting so I decided to enroll in Loyola's Type 73 School Counseling certification program on a part-time basis. Not surprisingly, my ultimate goal is to eventually secure employment as a school counselor where I can contribute to the positive growth, development, and well-being of children and adolescents.
During my own youth, I often required individualized attention for certain subjects in order to supplement and advance my learning in the classroom. Luckily, my mom served as an encouraging, supportive chicago">tutor (and mentor) to me, helping me to achieve academic success. As a chicago">tutor, I hope to bring this same encouraging energy, inspiring my students to achieve to their highest potential. I truly believe that, with the appropriate support, any student can achieve success.
