Fun Facts

Two of my favorite things are traveling and concerts! I have seen over 80 artists perform in concerts and had the opportunity to participate in two study abroad programs. During undergrad, I studied in Liberia and completed a study abroad in Northern Ireland as a graduate student. I have no doubt that I will always remember the dynamic people, gorgeous scenery, exotic foods and thought provoking stories of those trips.

About Me

Currently, I am a higher education professional and am attending graduate school part time for my Master of Social Work degree. I graduated summa cum laude in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education, with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies. I hold Georgia teaching licenses in both elementary (Pre-K through 5th) and general curriculum special education (K-12).

Experience

As mentioned above, I hold two Georgia teaching licenses. Previously, I taught 2nd grade and completed student teaching experiences in Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms. I also have experience working with students, who have Autism, Down Syndrome and other Specific Learning Disabilities.

In addition to student teaching, I tutored local elementary school students throughout my college career and recently was a one-on-one tutor at GiGi's Playhouse.

Approach

My educational approach is holistic and student centered. Teachers must meet students where they are and develop step by step plans to help them achieve their academic goals. The learning process is a marathon not a sprint; it requires commitment, focus and sometimes a little sweat and tears. Additionally, I believe that helping students develop self-confidence is key to both their personal and academic success.
