Fun Facts

A couple of my favorite hobbies include hiking and camping. I really enjoy the outdoors and love to explore new areas. My dog, Kya, accompanies me a lot of the times when I venture out. I have traveled around several European countries and have been fortunate enough to meet so many unique and friendly people of varied backgrounds in these countries.

About Me

I am a senior History major at the University of Louisville. I currently have a 3.4 GPA and have always been an exceptional student in the classroom. Along with my strong academic career, I have been involved with the University of Louisville Lacrosse Club my freshman year. Upon graduation, I plan on pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching. I am patient, approachable, and committed. Helping others reach their potential helps me reach my own potential.

Experience

While in high school, I volunteered for several weeks over the summer break at the Boys and Girls Club in J-ville, Indiana. As a teaching aid, I helped students with daily activities and reading comprehension. This past year, I started volunteering at the Kentucky Refugee Ministries in Louisville, KY. I serve in the New Beginnings Program at the non-profit organization and tutor two children. The language and culture barrier make for a challenging, yet, just as rewarding of an experience.

Approach

The first, and most important element of the tutoring process is to establish trust between the student and I. After this, I listen to what seems to be giving the student the most trouble and try to tackle the problem area. Throughout my academic career, I have learned many useful techniques and strategies that have helped myself achieve incredible success in the classroom and I will pass on these strategies to my students in hopes that they will find the methods useful in their own courses.
