Fun Facts
I think the most fun fact about myself comes from a saying my mom uses to describe me... She's says that I eat life with a big spoon! I love life and strive to live it the fullest. I am passionate about many things but my most unique passion is for competing in the equestrian sport of Three-Day Eventing. My philosophy is work hard when it's time to work, so you can play hard when it's time to play!
About Me
I am a junior Political Science major and French minor at Texas Christian University. I am a member of the John V. Roach honors college and for the past two years I have made the Dean's list. This year I am a TCU scholar as well! My hope upon graduation is to attend law school, with the intent to study international law.
Experience
My high school was very small (About 45 people) but it allowed me to be friends with and help students of many different ages and grade levels. However, while those opportunities in high school helped equip me for a tutoring position, I believe that having a younger sister has provided me with the most valuable tools to take into this position. Helping her with homework over the years has taught me the compassion and humility that is needed when tutoring someone!
Approach
I know that I always learn something best when I can find a way to make it fun or relate it to something else in my life (ex. Sports analogies). This is a principle that I will take with me into a tutoring situation. Every person is different but I believe that if you can show them a purpose to what they are learning that applies to their life (even if it's just presented in a fun way) that they will have a better chance of understanding it.

Political Science
Writing Tutoring
Writing is definitely my strong suit. In high school I was required to write a senior thesis modeled after a doctoral dissertation. I also had extensive classes in Rhetoric as my school taught in the classical education model. In my writing composition classes at TCU my professor did her best to persuade me to become an English major. I have worked diligently with my honors professors while at TCU to improve my writing skills and techniques and I believe that I have continually improved year to year.

Math Tutoring
I excelled at math all the way through my freshman year of college when I was no longer required to take math due to my major. I made A's in every math class I took including: college introductory statistcs, calculus, and algebra 1&2.

Latin Tutoring
I took Latin for 9 years and finished with a mastery of the language where I was reading original texts in Latin such as the Aeneid. It has been several years since I have studied it though as my last class was junior year of high school. I have no doubt that with some brushing up it will come back to me.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
As a political science major and honors student, most of all my school work is reading and then subsequent writing based on that reading. Reading comprehension was also my highest score on the SAT each time I took it (score was in the 750 range everytime).
Study Skills Tutoring
I fully believe that study skills are one of the most important tools to grasp in early education. If you can't study then your odds of success are much lower. Developing study skills was a huge priority for me as a student and I think that my success in college has proven them to work!
Homework Coach Tutoring
Unfortunately, homework is part of every students life. For me, I had to learn at a very early age how to balance homework with my time consuming extra curricular activities. I think my experience at this balance act provides me with some insight that I can pass on to young students.
Social Studies Tutoring
As a political science major, most of my studies revolve around the vague "social studies" realm. I think at this levels I am equipped to help students get a big picture understanding of the subjects as well as learn how to perform well on social studies tests.
