Fun Facts

From a very young age I fell in love with the art of ballet. It was my favorite after school hobby and I pursued learning a variety of dance styles throughout the course of fifteen years. I have a true love for staying involved in the Autism community. I also enjoy taking care of my six younger cousins.

About Me

I graduated high school as a Silver Knight nominee. Currently I am a sophomore at Florida International University double majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology. Once I graduate I plan to pursue a Master's of Science in Criminal Justice at Florida International University as well. Someday I hope to become a profiler in the Behavior Analysis Unit as a part of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Experience

At the age of 13 I began volunteering at a school for children with Autism. I realized I had passion for with working with children and found it to be a rewarding field. After 3 years of volunteering I learned the importance of catering to each child's needs and their different learning methods. This opportunity equipped me with the skills to help children academically. Additionally I worked as an after school counselor for first grade students assisting them with homework and other activities.

Approach

In preparing for my college entrance exams I found myself in a challenging position that I had not previously experienced. I sought out the guidance of a tutor who pushed me the extra mile to maximize my potential. This one-on-one tutoring method truly helped me achieve my academic goals. As a tutor, my mission is to cater to each child's individual needs, promote confidence and to provide them with the tools for success in the academic areas they struggle in.

English Tutoring

Throughout high school my favorite subject was English. I always excelled in the class and even received a college recommendation letter from my English instructor. In this subject I have received no less than an 88% in my academic career.

Homework Coach Tutoring

From a very young age I was taught that organization in academics is key. I like to have a set schedule and routine as to how homework should be done. By prioritizing and using time management students will be able to conquer their after school work. This will also help them get into the habit of using these tips to get their work done as efficient as possible for their future.

Elementary Math Tutoring

Math is a course I truly enjoy helping students understand. From teaching kindergarten and first graders about adding and subtracting to helping fourth graders learn how to multiply and divide fractions, it is a rewarding feeling when a child finally grasps the concept. I make it a priority to cater to each student individually, especially in math because I believe this is a subject that should be taught in a variety of ways in order for each student to successfully understand the concept at hand.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

Reading Comprehension is a subject in which I struggled in as a child, but over the years I have learned different techniques from my own tutors that have truly helped me. These methods assisted me in overcoming the struggle of the subject and made it my best test score on the SAT. Now I am able to excel in it and hope to teach my own students these learning styles.

Spanish Tutoring

I am a fluent Spanish speaker. My freshman year of high school, I was invited to be a member of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, the Spanish Honor Society, and presented with an outstanding member award. I took Spanish for Spanish Speakers !, II, and III Honors, in which I earned dual enrollment college credits. I received an 'A' in all of my Spanish classes.

Writing Tutoring

Writing has always been one of my best subjects. I have taken writing courses in college and received an 'A' and also had my professors ask me if they can show my papers as an example to share with their future students. Along with this, in high school I took a special course of Creative Writing in which I received an 'A' as well.
