Fun Facts

In my free time I like spending time with my friends, being outdoors, reading, being active, and painting. I love living in Austin, especially for the good food and great music. One of my favorite things to do every year is go to the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and I love exploring the fun things Austin has to offer. I am a huge longhorn football fan; hook 'em! I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things.

About Me

I am a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, and a Texas native. I am obtaining my bachelor's degree in corporate finance, with a minor in accounting. During my junior year of college I became interested in pursuing a career in consulting, and I secured an internship with a consulting firm in Houston called FTI Consulting. I will be starting full time for FTI in the fall of 2013 working as a part of their Forensic and Litigation Consulting group. I have received University Honors from UT every semester I have attended. I hope to earn my CFA (chartered financial analyst) certification after I graduate.

During my junior and senior years in high school I was a member of P.A.L.S., an organization that specialized in austin">tutoring and mentoring students at local-area schools. Each year I was paired with two students who I would meet with one a week to work on academics and personal issues. It was such a rewarding experience, and I really enjoyed being able to austin">tutor and mentor these students and watch them make progress right before my eyes. Since entering college I have been immersed in group projects, study groups, homework groups, and student organizations that have exposed me to a lot of informal austin">tutoring experience on a vast array of subjects and topics.

From my experience as a P.A.L. and among my peers, I have developed an approach to teaching that combines patience, encouragement, and genuine desire to help. I know it can be frustrating to not grasp a subject at first try, but I believe that the rewarding feeling you get when you understand something that you hadn't understood before is what I can help the students I austin">tutor achieve. The sense of accomplishment while really learning is the key, in my mind, that can motivate a student to continue to put effort forth in all that they encounter academically. Students can see that learning can be fun, and I hope to provide an encouraging, positive, and hard-working environment to make that happen.
