Fun Facts
My favorite hobbies are gymnastics and weightlifting. I love progressing in both these sports, and am currently focusing on mastering the gymnastics rings. In fact, it was the pursuit of these two activities that led me to seeking a career in Biology. I wished to learn how my body worked and adapted, which led me to Nutrition, which eventually led to Biology. In the future, I am determined to conduct my own research in Nutrition and Exercise.
About Me
I am a Biology Major at Florida International University. I started as a Nutrition Major at Miami Dade College, and became a Biology major after transferring to FIU. I have been at this University for over a year now, and have been on the Dean's List since Fall 2015. After attaining my Bachelor's Degree in Biology, I hope to either remain at FIU or go to the University of Miami for my Master's and Doctorate Degrees in Biology or Biochemistry, to eventually conduct my own scientific research.
Experience
Having become interested in Biology and Nutrition, I have been educating myself in these subjects since my second year of High School. I have excelled at every Math and Science class I have ever taken, and have been independently tutoring high school and college students for two years. I have also had the opportunity to lead several study groups during my time at FIU, and from all this can say I am excellent at tutoring in Algebra, Chemistry and most importantly Biology.
Approach
I firmly believe in Einstein's quote: If you cannot explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. This is my philosophy when tutoring: present the concepts in a straightforward, clear manner, using metaphors and examples to ensure that the student grasps the concept in its entirety. I also use an active learning approach in which I have the student practice solving the problems with only some guidance, so come test day, the student is well-prepared to solve the problems on their own.

Biology
Biology I Tutoring
I have taken both Biology 1 and Microbiology, as well as their Labs, and achieved a grade of A in all of them. I have been studying Biology independently (before college) for almost five years, and led several study groups for the subject during my time taking the course in college.
Chemistry I Tutoring
I recently took this course at FIU, along with its lab, and achieved an A, all the while helping my fellow classmates. In addition, I am currently taking Chemistry 2, which builds on the knowledge from the previous course, and am already fairing well.
College Algebra Tutoring
I have always been naturally good at math, and took this class only as a precursor to Statistics and Precalculus. I passed both College Algebra and Statistics with an A, and am currently studying Precalculus and Trigonometry, often leading group work on the subject.
Algebra Tutoring
I am currently taking (and passing) Precalculus and Trigonometry in FIU, after having taken and passed both Statistics and College Algebra with an A. As such, I have mastered the material and am prepared to teach it.
Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring
At Miami Dade College, I took both Anatomy and Physiology I and II, and passed both with an A, never getting anything below an A in any quiz, test or practicum, including the labs. In addition to this, I have taken Intro to Nutrition, which coincides with the beginning chapters of A&P.
Biology Tutoring
I have taken Biology I and Microbiology at FIU, and passed both with an A. I am currently majoring in Biology, and have tutored high school students in the subject.
Chemistry Tutoring
I have taken Chemistry I in FIU and attained an A in the subject, as well as its lab, and am currently passing Chemistry II. I have led study groups in both courses. I also have experience tutoring high school students.
Math Tutoring
I am currently taking Precalculus and Trigonometry at the University level, having passed both College Algebra and Statistics with an A in both. I have a grasp of Mathematics, and am capable of teaching the subject in a clear manner.
