Fun Facts

I really like ice hockey and played it growing up and all the way through high school. I watch Dallas Stars games every night they play and constantly am aware of news going on in the NHL.

About Me

I am a junior accounting major at Texas Christian University. I am in the Professional Accounting Program and plan to complete my Masters in Accounting here at TCU.I have a 3.70 GPA in accounting courses, and I feel that I can help others achieve this sort of success in school.

My plan after college is to move to Dallas and start at a certified public accounting firm as an associate after obtaining my masters' degree. My ultimate goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant.

Experience

Over the past two summer and winter breaks, I obtained valuable experience working as an intern for the accounting firm Kapp & Miller, P.C. I was given many diverse assignments, ranging from creating oil and gas depreciation schedules and reconciling bank statements to processing tax returns and completing office deliveries. I am eager to be able to use this experience and the skills I have developed in the classroom to help other students succeed in accounting courses.

Approach

As an accounting major, I found it difficult at first to understand the reasoning behind the work being done in accounting classes. I was fortunate enough to have a father that is a CPA that was able to break down the examples for me in a way that makes sense for someone foreign to accounting. I plan to use the approach by giving real life examples to students to convey the logic behind the work, rather than encouraging memorization.
