Fun Facts

I do enjoy beer itself. Thus, one of my lifetime goal is to craft my own beer at my place. My wife is won't like it, but anyway it's what I truly wish to do someday. I also enjoy watching baseball and soccer game on TV as well as playing on the field.

About Me

I am a first-year Ph.D. student in economics in the George Washington University. I graduated from Michigan State University 7 years ago, went back to my country (Korea) to serve military duty, and came back to the U.S. for further studies after being released. I am 31 years old and married. I am a father of 10-month lovely daughter.

Experience

As a military duty, I served as a financial/accounting officer in the Republic of Korea Air Force for 40 months. My responsibilities as a finance officer in the Air Force were quite diverse, ranging from handling construction contracts for my military unit to preparing and managing budgets and financial statements. In addition to these, I met various people in and outside the base, which I thought was a valuable social experience.

Approach

Instead of just giving students directions how to solve problems, I will let them understand the fundamental ideas underlying each concept. Also, I love to meet different people from different backgrounds. I am very good at putting myself in another's place, and I will apply this attitude as a tutor.

But, my strategy for the midterm was so wrong that I got C from the midterm. After that, I totally fixed my strategy and studied really hard, to be the first in the class in the final. After the term, the professor recognized my improvement and offered me a grading assistant position for undergraduate course.
