Fun Facts

One phrase to describe me would be "curious about the world". I love learning about different cultures and am an ardent reader of world mythology, as I believe a culture's foundational stories to be most evocative of its complexities. My love for culture extends to food and travel as well! To date I have traveled across much of Europe and India and hope to add many more countries to my list. Additional pleasures of mine include tennis, swimming, ziplining, foreign cinema, and meeting new people!

About Me

I am presently a fourth year Economics major and Math minor at the George Washington University; and my goal after I complete my Bachelor of Science this May is to pursue a Master's Degree in Public Policy Analysis and ultimately work on formulating urban/regional development policies at one of D.C.'s leading policymaking institutions. Having a strong zeal for public service and giving back to my community, I relish the opportunity to have a formative influence on my students' academic lives.

Experience

As a member of both the National Honor Society and the math club at my high school, I regularly tutored students in mathematics subjects ranging from Geometry to Calculus. While an upperclassman at GW, I co-founded an Economics student organization dedicated to mentoring younger Economics majors. Part of this involved coordinating stock market workshops with D.C.'s Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center to increase the financial literacy of freshmen.

Approach

Coming from a family of professors has greatly influenced my outlook on how to tutor most effectively. I firmly believe that the best way for a student to learn any concept- be it history or calculus- is to repeatedly try to explain it in their own words until they gain the confidence to teach it. Rather than giving quick answers, my focus will instead be on honing my student's critical thinking and problem solving skills while guiding them into tackling problems independently and successfully.
