Fun Facts

I started playing basketball in the fourth grade on a whim and it quickly became my all-time favorite sport, which I still play to this day! I've been lucky to grow up watching excellent Boston sports and especially love cheering for the Celtics and the Patriots! I've inherited my family's love for cooking and eating good food. It's nice to have a recipe, but I don't mind just experimenting with ingredients to see what I can create. I also love visiting the beach any time of the year!

About Me

I was born and raised in RI and moved to Boston after falling in love with the city to attend boston-university">Boston University. After I graduated with double majors in Human Physiology and Classical Civilizations, I enrolled at Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM) in the Master of Biomedical Sciences program where I took courses that better prepared me for medical school. Upon completion of that program, I continued my studies at TUSM, this time in the medical degree program. I am currently still attending school and am looking forward to applying to general surgery residency this fall.

Experience

My first boston">tutoring experience came during high school when I joined my school's program Math Links, where I would help other students with math homework and exam preparation. During college I volunteered with the nonprofit group Peer Health Exchange, teaching various health topics to local high school freshmen. I tutored nutrition and other courses after completing my masters program, and continued to do so with both lecture-based and clinical courses through medical school.

Approach

I used to get so bogged down with the details of what I was learning that I forgot what the big picture looked like. Therefore, I like to start with a general overview of the topic, so that it is easier to fill in the details as they are presented. I also like to work through examples and sample questions to be able to demonstrate how various pieces come together in a practical manner. Practice, repetition, and a positive attitude are key!
