Fun Facts
I love exploring coffee shops in downtown Boston, but I don't drink coffee. Although I've broken my neck and my back, I still manage to run a few miles each day and do pilates. I'm a certified Emergency Medical Technician.
About Me
I am a senior Biochemistry major at Boston College and am pursuing my Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Chicago this Fall. After receiving my Ph.D., I hope to either get my post-doc or get a job in pharmaceutical research.
Experience
I have prior experience tutoring high school students in Spanish and Chemistry. I also spent two semesters working as an undergraduate teaching assistant for an introductory biology laboratory course at Boston College. I worked as a research assistant in organic chemistry and physical chemistry laboratories. Although I am attending graduate school next year, I spent the majority of my undergraduate career pursuing medical school. I hope to mentor students who are interested in either path.
Approach
I believe that success in college (particularly in the sciences) depends on a student's ability to learn efficiently. In high school, many students (like myself) memorize every sentence of the textbook the night before the exam. I used this tactic during my first semester at Boston College, but I found myself struggling to keep up with the material and my peers. I want to help students learn the material and develop study habits that will help them succeed in college.
