I love sailing, rowing, and collecting books and classical music. But most people first notice my eagerness to tell anyone, at anytime, about the fruits of what I am studying, whether history, literature or philosophy. When I worked in retail, my customers often did not come back to me to discuss products they bought, but to follow up on an inspiring, intellectual conversation.

About Me

I am a doctoral student in philosophy at the dallas">University of Dallas. While I love learning, I find it incomplete without the opportunity to share with others the fruits of my learning. This is why I regard a teaching career as the capstone of my education. But this is not to say that I will wait until graduation to begin. I not only love to teach what I learn, but find that I always learn from those I teach. So, when I am not studying, I am always seeking opportunities to dallas">tutor.

Experience

I have spent many years observing and working with students from a variety of backgrounds. Since my high school years, a semester has not passed when I was not dallas">tutoring at least some of my fellow classmates. Working for years in the writing lab at my Undergraduate College has given me extensive experience in helping students with their communication skills. As a philosophy dallas">tutor, I have learned what is perhaps most important of all in teaching: how to break down the most complex subject matter.

Approach

I strive for three goals: (1) to increase students' confidence in their own abilities to advance, while encouraging them to seek further assistance, (2) to make the subject matter as accessible as possible (so that my students work will always be easier than it was for me), (3) to share and inspire genuine interest in the subject matter. But I also realize that every student is different and success greatly depends on my ability to forge a positive and trusting relationship with each student.
