Fun Facts

I am a cyclist who has participated in six charity runs of 150 miles each. I crochet (baby blankets are my specialty). I am an AVID reader, and a huge Harry Potter Geek.

About Me

I am a 20-something year old who has been in love with teaching my whole life. I am currently teaching ELA at the 7th grade level, but I have been in 5th grade, preschool, infant classrooms in the past. I graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2009 with a BA in English and a GPA of 3.67 from their honors program. In college, I was honored to have my senior thesis published in the college library. I earned my masters in teaching English from boston-college">Boston College in 2011.

Experience

I have taught in a 7th grade history and ELA classroom for seven years. I am familiar with the MA State Frameworks for ELA and SS as well as the format and skills tested on the standardized state exams. Before I began teaching full time, I worked as a peer boston">tutor and writing consultant for Saint Anselm College's Academic Resource Center.

Approach

I truly believe that it is important for teachers to acknowledge that every child has a unique learning style and brings individual background knowledge to every lesson. In my classroom, I differentiate every lesson, tailoring it to the learner's needs. I teach the same skills and standards to EVERY student, but the tools and tactics used to reach mastery are very different for each.
