I'm a dork. I still listen to the boy bands I liked in the 90s, I am almost always wearing a baseball cap, and my favorite shirt looks like I have a kitten in my pocket. I love traveling and have had the chance to visit several countries including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Serbia, Japan, and Thailand. I can juggle three balls at once, I'm pretty good at Monopoly, and get unnaturally excited when I get something in the mail. I played piano for 7 years, quitting and re-committing 5
About Me
Hi! My name is Dylan Hollinger and I'm currently a Senior level student at the University of Texas at Arlington studying in Public Relations with a minor in English. I've lived in the metroplex for the last 21 years and graduated from Arlington Heights HS in 2008. I'm actively involved with a local Baptist church and have attended there since I was in 5th grade. I'm also an avid sports fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys and TCU Horned Frog Football.
This is my first time tutoring as a part of an actual tutoring organization but have been active in tutoring many friends family members, and classmates over the course of my academic career. Those who know me find my help useful particularly in classes related to English (writing, reading, reading-comprehension/texas/fort-worth">reading comprehension, writing haikus about your grandma's dog, etc.). English has always been my strongest subject and I've been through the mill at college having taken and excelled at such classes including journalism courses, creative writing, writing for media, and an unrelenting slew of literature courses.
My approach to tutoring is simple; to find out where each individual student is in their learning and to walk with them, continuously working to find the most productive learning tools for him or her, and using those tools to challenge and excite them in their learning. Each student is different in the way he or she learns information, and where teachers are unable to adapt to each student at the same time, a tutor like myself is able to pinpoint disconnects and find methods that work. As a student who was often confused and bored by textbooks, I'm confident that I will be able to find creative strategies to help struggling students not just memorize, but learn and apply what is being taught in his or her classes.
