Fun Facts
I love bowling! I live near a retro bowling alley, and any chance I can get, I’ll corral my friends to go bowling. I’m absolutely terrible at it, but it’s great fun! I also love going to the beach, and my ideal vacation would involve a water park. Even though I’ve never had formal training, I like to paint watercolors in my free time.
About Me
I graduated from Case Western Reserve University with honors and a BA in sociology. I completed a post-baccalaureate program at cleveland-state-university">Cleveland State University in biology to prepare for graduate school. I have been to accepted to several graduate programs for an MPH in epidemiology; I will most likely to be going to Emory University next year. I’m very excited to start a career using statistics to improve public health! I hope to one day work for the Centers for Disease Control.
Experience
I have been cleveland">tutoring since 2009, and I love it! I’ve tutored students of all ages, from elementary to graduate students. I cover many subjects, but have primarily tutored high school curriculum, ACT/SAT prep, and writing. In addition to cleveland">tutoring privately, I have also worked for several companies, including Frog cleveland">Tutoring, Varsity cleveland">Tutors, and The Whole Kid. I also worked for a year at the cleveland-state-university">Cleveland State University Writing Center, helping college and graduate students improve their writing skills
Approach
Over the last 8 years, I have learned that each student learns best in their own way, and so I tailor my cleveland">tutoring style to each student. Some students work better with metaphorical explanations, while others may enjoy a more tactile approach. Many students feel discouraged, and I strive to make each student believe in themselves - they can truly achieve their potential. I often use “teaching as learning.” By having students explain concepts to me, they master ideas and increase confidence.
