Fun Facts

I adore adventure. My more exciting hobbies include sailing, skiing, and scuba diving. In fact, I recently earned my Rescue Diver certification and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean. However, I am just as happy cooking up my signature apple pie or reading out in the sun. I come from a small town in Tennessee where I developed a love of football and baseball.

About Me

I am a sophomore Biology major on the premedical tract at Washington University in St. Louis. I earned my spot on the Dean's list last semester and intend to continue the trend. Inevitably, I hope to attend medical school in order to become a surgeon.

Experience

I have been tutoring for years, beginning in middle school with my local Science club. Through various organization such as National Honors Society, I continued to tutor throughout my high school years. Though my sorority has given me the opportunity to interact positively with local students in nonacademic methods, tutoring allows the chance to directly influence student's academic success. For this I am forever grateful and honored.

Approach

My years in the sciences has taught me the importance of the eureka moment. I do not hand out answers to students. Working and struggling through a problem, with a bit of guidance to push in the correct direction, develops a greater understanding of why an answer is correct. In addition, finally arriving at the answer creates a sense of achievement meant to translate outside of the session. When I leave, I want the student to feel smart and successful!
