Experience
As a successful student in high school, I was given the opportunity to begin tutoring algebra. Later, I became an afterschool homework tutor at a local afterschool program in New Orleans. That experience led me most recently to become a private english comprehension tutor.
There are many other experieces as a mentor and teacher that prepared me to become a tutor, such as being a part of the 4H Try-IT team, teaching youth how to make good decisions in life and how to say no to drugs and alcohol.
Approach
Being a student, tutor, and an aunt, I've noticed that a person's love of gaining knowledge makes the difference in their academic experience. I believe as a tutor, it is not only my responsiblity to give students the skills to be successful in any subject, but to also tap into their love of learning--which brings out the most potential. Learning how to 'love' to learn not only helps students academically, but in all areas of life.
